Birdseye maple is one of the most highly used veneers in the aviation industry. Logging of these logs from northeast United States and Canada is seasonal and availability can be sporadic, especially in the highest-grade veneer. With multiple characteristics of veneer color, eye density, eye size, eye shape, and background figure possible, matching logs or specific veneer character is difficult.
