Myrtle Burl

Myrtle burl is commonly called laurel burl or California laurel. This west cost species has greenish brown heartwood with generous outer sap veneer. The pale yellow sapwood veneer is often separated from the darker inner material although both veneers are valuable. Because burls are rotary cut, sequences will often have distinct 2-tone patterns. Myrtle burl will often have muscle or figure intertwined with the burls.
