PCI Composites

The Finest Aerospace Composites, Plastic Assemblies and Subassemblies

PCI Composites has proudly served the aviation industry since 1978 as a manufacturer of aircraft interior components and sub-assemblies.

Our core manufacturing capabilities include composites molding, vacuum / thermoform plastic molding and component assembly based upon “lean manufacturing systems”.

PCI produces sidewalls, headliners, passenger service units, environmental ducting and window shade assemblies.

Extensive Capabilities

Plastic Forming

Our plastic forming capabilities include thermoforming and vacuum-forming of plastic sheet. PCI produces a variety of products for both exterior and interior applications, including molding decorative plastics.

Composite Molding

Our composite molding capabilities include expertise in advanced structural composites reinforced with graphite, Kevlar and fiberglass. Some of the advanced composite components we produce include doors, panels, wipers, leading edges, structural flight surfaces, nacelle parts, and radomes.

PCI has multiple ovens to handle low-pressure curing requirements (the largest of which is 40’ x 10’ x 8’) and autoclaves to handle high pressure curing requirements for structural composite components (the largest of which is 12’ x 19’).

Assembly

PCI performs valued-added assembly work for several of our customers. This has become a significant growth area for the company as most of our customers are beginning to turn toward the purchase of sub-assemblies as opposed to individual components. PCI has created lean manufacturing work cells and enhanced our inventory management systems to support the increasing amount of value added assembly work that we are doing.

Lean Manufacturing

PCI’s manufacturing and assembly operations are based on Pull Manufacturing Systems supported by lean manufacturing techniques and principles. PCI is committed to supporting our customer’s present and future requirements by continually implementing methods to improve our production processes and provide added value.

Quality is the Foundation of our Business

PCI’s Quality System is certified and approved to AS9100 and ISO9001 standards and is in compliance with FAR Part 21. In addition to following these requirements, the PCI Quality System focuses on continuous improvement and the advancement of quality through the elimination of waste by employing tools such as Six Sigma and VA/VE.

PCI has made substantial investments in equipment to support the improvement of our Quality Systems and capabilities, including the purchase of FARO Arm coordinate measuring equipment. This equipment enables us to more accurately and efficiently compare tooling and production components to actual CAD data and has helped us increase inspection capacity, timing and throughput. An added benefit is that the FARO Arm is portable and can be utilized at an off-site facility or customer location as needed.

Awards

PCI’s exceptional service and support has been recognized by many of our customers over the past years. We have been the recipient of several awards for maintaining our outstanding ratings in quality, delivery and cost as well as for our participation and support of Value Added/Value Engineering (VA/VE) cost reduction and product improvement efforts.
